Measurements

Measurement Guide

Accurate measurements improve fit precision. Required values are enough to start; optional values improve cockpit and stability recommendations.

Two required measurements
Extra cockpit context
Less guesswork in your setup
Better measurements produce better cockpit and stability recommendations.

Preparation

Before You Start

Use this checklist before you start measuring.

Measure barefoot on a hard, flat surface.

Take each measurement twice and use the average.

Ask someone to help for torso, arm, shoulder, and femur.

Use consistent units: centimeters except foot length in millimeters.

Measurements

Work step by step

Start with the required fields, then add optional measurements for a richer fit profile.

Height

Required • Unit: cm • Typical range: 130-210 cm

Tools

Tape measure • Wall • Flat floor

How to measure

  1. Stand barefoot with heels against a wall and look straight ahead.
  2. Keep your back and hips lightly touching the wall.
  3. Place a book flat on your head, mark the wall, then measure to the floor.

Common mistakes

  • Measuring while wearing shoes.
  • Tilting your head up or down.

Inseam

Required • Unit: cm • Typical range: 55-105 cm

Tools

Tape measure • Hardcover book • Wall

How to measure

  1. Stand barefoot with feet shoulder-width apart and back against a wall.
  2. Pull a hardcover book up firmly into the crotch to simulate saddle pressure.
  3. Measure from the top edge of the book straight down to the floor.

Common mistakes

  • Holding the book loosely.
  • Measuring from the wrong edge of the book.

Torso Length

Optional • Unit: cm

Tools

Tape measure • Helper (recommended)

How to measure

  1. Stand naturally in a neutral posture.
  2. Find the top of your hip bone (iliac crest) and shoulder point (acromion).
  3. Measure straight-line distance between those two landmarks.

Common mistakes

  • Measuring while hunched forward.
  • Using different body sides for start and end landmarks.

Arm Length

Optional • Unit: cm

Tools

Tape measure • Helper (recommended)

How to measure

  1. Relax your shoulders and extend your arm slightly forward.
  2. Measure from shoulder point (acromion) to the wrist crease.
  3. Repeat once and average both attempts.

Common mistakes

  • Locking the elbow aggressively.
  • Measuring around the curve instead of straight-line distance.

Shoulder Width

Optional • Unit: cm

Tools

Tape measure • Helper

How to measure

  1. Stand upright with relaxed shoulders.
  2. Measure from one acromion point to the other across your back.
  3. Keep tape level and straight.

Common mistakes

  • Measuring chest width instead of acromion-to-acromion.
  • Pulling tape too tight around the body.

Femur Length

Optional • Unit: cm

Tools

Tape measure • Helper

How to measure

  1. Stand naturally with knees unlocked.
  2. Locate the hip joint landmark (greater trochanter).
  3. Measure from hip landmark to center of the knee.

Common mistakes

  • Guessing the hip landmark location.
  • Measuring to kneecap edge instead of knee center.

Foot Length

Optional • Unit: mm • Typical range: 220-320 mm

Tools

Paper • Pen • Ruler

How to measure

  1. Stand on a sheet of paper wearing thin socks.
  2. Mark heel and longest toe.
  3. Measure between marks in millimeters.

Common mistakes

  • Measuring while seated (load is different).
  • Using centimeters when input expects millimeters.

Recheck

When To Re-Measure

Repeat your measurements when the quality of the input is uncertain.

If two attempts differ by more than 1 cm (or 5 mm for foot length).

After major body changes, injury recovery, or flexibility improvements.

If recommendations feel inconsistent with your on-bike comfort.
